BEIJING: Xiaomi just recently sold a record breaking 2.11 million smartphones within 12 hours, which got them a place in the Guinness Book of Records. The company was able to achieve this through one of its famous “flash sales”. After outperforming Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung Group (OTCMKTS:SSNLF), strong rumors are floating around that the Xiaomi Mi 6 flagship might be coming to the US, as the company is ready to take on new markets, other than China and India.

Xiaomi certainly have an impressive line of Android based smartphones, that are equipped with the latest technology and charge a relatively low price, compared to its competitors. That is what has effectively made them the third leading smartphone maker in the world, behind Apple and Samsung.

Rumors have it that the company is ready to take a strong foothold in the global market, starting with the new Xiaomi Mi 5. The company have a global smartphone event in India on April 23, with CEO Lei Jun, President Bin Lin, and the company’s Global Vice President Hugo Barra in attendance. The event is titled ‘i IS COMING’, so we assume that it has something to do with the Mi 5. The Mi 5 will supposedly make it way to the European markets.

The Mi 5 is rumored to have a 5 inch or 5.5 inch screen, with QHD resolution of 1,560 x 1,440 pixels. It will run on the new 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor back, with 3 or 4 GB of RAM. It could feature a 20 mega-pixel camera and Android Lollipop 5.0 with the company’s own MIUI interface.

Also, according to androidinfo, the next flagship phone, the Xiaomi Mi 6, will soon invade the US. If the rumors are true, the phone will be just as good as the smartphones that Apple, Samsung Group, HTC and LG produce, but sold at a lower price. The Mi 6 will supposedly have a bigger screen, a faster processor, and camera upgrades from the Mi 5.

Xiaomi certainly have a strong foothold in the Indian and Chinese markets. But is the company ready to compete in the global markets, where people demand high-quality phones and price isn’t a defining factor for them.
