Xolo One smartphone releases Android 5.0 Lollipop update for

NEW DELHI: Home grown manufacturer Xolo’s budget ‘One’ smartphone is now receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop over-the-air (OTA) update, the company has confirmed. Launched last year at a price tag of Rs. 6,599, the Xolo One was promised an update to Android Lollipop at the time of launch.

There are a number of ways users can update their handset. They can either head over to the company’s support website and download the update manually, or they can even download the OTA files on their computer and then transfer the same to their device.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop update brings along a number of key changes to the Xolo One smartphone besides Google’s Material Design UI.

The new update brings along an improved notification system, a Kill Switch, a simplified version of Hangouts and a useful Guest user mode for device sharing. The update will also bring an improved hardware keyboard accessory support as well as support for as many as 15 new languages (like Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu).

Moreover, improved audio, video, and camera capabilities, and improved Internet connectivity will also come along with the new update.

The Xolo One is pitched as a direct competitor to Android One handsets. The device is priced at Rs.6,599.
