TOKYO: Yamaha Motor reveals that a new MT-25 sports model from the ‘MT’ series, featuring a 250cc liquid-cooled in-line two-cylinder engine will go on sale in Indonesia from this month.

Manufacturing and sales of the new model will be carried out by Yamaha Motor’s group company, PT. Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM).

Yamaha says the MT-25, which has been developed on the YSF-R25 platform, has the sportiness of the MT-09 and MT-07 and brings the character of the MT series to the 250cc class.

The new bike’s highlights include a riding position suited to agile yet comfortable city riding; a ‘mass forward silhouette’ design; a two-cylinder engine with a focus on mid- and high-speed range and lightweight 165kg body design that contributes to nimble handling.

The Indonesian two-wheeler market has seen growing demand for sports bikes and last year Yamaha Motor launched new products such as the YZF-R15 and YZF-R25. The MT-25 being a global model, Yamaha says it is to be launched in many countries around the world, including developed markets.
