LAHORE: A competitive and viable domestic textile industry is in the larger interest of the country’s economy, said All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) Chairman Syed Ali Ahsan.
Talking to media, he said the present government announced and implemented initiatives to ensure regionally competitive energy, both electricity and gas, for five zero-rated sectors. Ahsan said the industry, all across the value chain, had started preparing a policy framework to achieve the export target of $50 billion in five years.
It is believed to attract huge investments and create 15 million direct workforce. The Aptma chairman dispelled the impression that the export of yarn was impacting the value-added industry and stated that its export had declined by 24% in quantitative terms in March
