ISLAMABAD: The government has the unemployed educated youth from across the country to submit applications by February 11 to avail chance of getting internship under Prime Minister’s Youth Training Scheme.
According to official sources, the main purpose of the scheme is to equip the educated youth with modern skills and ensure opening of vistas of new opportunities for them in the job market and make them self-sufficient.
The selected youth would be paid Rs 12,000 per month for one year as stipend. The upper age limit for applicant is 25 years. Seminary graduates are also eligible to apply for the scheme. As many as 50,000 graduates would be offered paid internship at government, semi government, autonomous organisations and private institutions. 25,000 interns would be selected from Punjab, 1,000 from AJK, 3,000 from Balochistan, 2,000 from Gilgit Baltistan/FATA, 3,750 from Islamabad, 5,750 from KP, 9,500 from Sindh.
A top class management consulting firm/university from the private sector in collaboration with the Government will be responsible for the design, placement of internees and their periodic evaluation. It is for the first time that private sector has been involved in internship scheme with sole objective not only to facilitate the youth, but also ensure more employment opportunities for them after their adequate training and capacity building through internship programmes.
The youth, having 16 years of education from Higher Education Commission (HEC) approved institutions and three years diploma after matric and FSc are eligible to apply. Youth already benefited from any government such scheme, employees of any government or private department, students of any government or private educational institute are not eligible to apply for the scheme.
Applications and selection of candidate would be made online. Allocation of interns will be made in accordance with the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award and Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) recruitment criteria for provincial and regional quotas. 50% of marks or 2.5 CGPA in final degree/diploma is the minimum threshold for selection of interns. There is no gender discrimination as female candidates will be encouraged to apply.
