Zain appointed IT Chief for security of OECD data exchange

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has appointed Zain ul Abideen Sahi, a BS-20 officer of Inland Revenue Service, as Chief of Information Technology.

The officer, in pursuance of Board’s Notification No. 0674-IR-I/2017, assumed the charge of the said post for security of data obtained under exchange of information with OECD member countries and from local commercial banks.

Zain-ul-Abidin relinquished the charge of the post of Commissioner-IR (WHT), Regional Tax Office, Sialkot with effect from March 6 before taking the charge of the new post.

According to a Board’s notification, FBR chairman had approved the nomination of Zain ul Abideen Sahi as member of the Pilot Project on Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI). The officer would perform the following functions in relation to the pilot project and automatic exchange of information:

  1. Measures related to data safeguard in the Data Centre and AEOI units;
  2. Preparation for the upcoming OECD assessment of FBR on confidentiality and data safeguards;
  3. ISO 27001 certification;
  4. Procurement of Third Party CRS – Compliant Software for Automatic Exchange of Information;
  5. Assisting financial institution in IT matters;
  6. Designing of the system for sorting, cross-matching, disseminating and monitoring of the information received.
