Zeba Hai Azhar appointed as FBR Member Customs Operations

ISLAMABAD: Zeba Hai Azhar has been appointed as the Member of Customs Operations by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in Islamabad. This appointment takes effect immediately and will remain in place until further notice.

Zeba Hai Azhar is a highly competent and honest officer of the Pakistan Customs Service. Prior to this role, she served as the Chief Collector of Customs in the Central Region. Previously, she held the position of Member Legal & Accounting at the Federal Board of Revenue.

During her tenure as the Chief Collector of Customs in the Central Region, which includes the Customs Collectorates of Appraisement Lahore, Preventive Lahore, Multan, and Faisalabad, Zeba Hai Azhar not only achieved the assigned revenue targets but exceeded them.

The MCC Appraisement Lahore contributed the highest Customs duties, collecting Rs43,332 million (52%) out of a total of Rs82,831 million. MCC Preventive Lahore collected Rs20,080 million (24%), MCC Multan collected Rs15,495 million (18.7%), and MCC Faisalabad collected Rs3,923 million (4.7%).

Speaking to Customs Today during her tenure as the Chief Collector of Customs in the Central Region, Lahore, Zeba Hai Azhar mentioned that the performance was exceptional, considering the various external factors that had affected revenue collection trends.

She explained that apart from macroeconomic policies and indicators, there were unique factors that had made revenue collection challenging for the Collectorates in the Central Region. “These Collectorates primarily rely on specific tariff lines, commodities, and large importers as the main sources of revenue. Consequently, revenue collection is influenced by the economic conditions and the circumstances faced by importers.
