BERLIN: Zendesk announced plans to launch a new European data centre in Frankfurt beginning in the second quarter of 2015 as it continues to expand the number of organisations using its customer service platform in Germany and throughout Europe.

Zendesk will be one of the first U.S.-based cloud software companies to operate a data centre in Germany, underscoring its commitment to serve German customers and provide them with more options for where customer data is hosted. The new data centre comes after Zendesk previously invested in the German market with the opening of an official office in Berlin and expansion of the local team.

The new data centre is a significant milestone for Zendesk in Germany and more widely throughout Europe,” said Adrian McDermott, senior vice president of product development at Zendesk. “It will allow us to continue to grow rapidly and serve the needs of our expanding base of enterprise customers in Germany and throughout Europe.”

Zendesk is responding to the increasing demand by customers to understand and control where their data is hosted. The new data centre will provide enterprise customers with operations in Germany the option to have data on the Zendesk customer service platform hosted, persistently stored and backed up within Germany.
