Ziauddin Wazir to assume charge as Member Customs Appellate Tribunal on Friday

ISLAMABAD: Recently appointed Member Technical, Ziauddin Wazir of Customs Appellate Tribunal, Islamabad, is likely to take charge of the office on coming Friday, said tribunals’ officials.

Member Technical, Ziauddin Wazir has been awaited to take charge of the office since last week which now was extended to coming Friday.

The Ministry of Law and Justice had appointed Ziauddin Wazir as member technical of Bench-I of Tribunal’s headquarters in the capital city.

According to details, the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had approved the appointment in exercise of powers conferred by sub-section 3 of Section-194 of Customs Act, 1969.

Ministry’s notification, issued on July 15, further stated that the said appointment was deputation for the period of three years or till he attain the age of superannuation or until further orders whichever is earlier, with effect from the date he assumes charge of the said post.

It is pertinent to mention that in absence of Member Technical, Ziauddin Wazir, the office was suffering further delay in restoring it routine functions. None of six single and division benches was holding hearings of cases despite a good number of cases were filed at the tribunal. The tribunal had not performed functions since last couple of months.
