FAISALABAD: Pakistan Association (PYMA) has demanded the imposition of 15% regulatory duty on imports of cotton yarn from India.
Talking to media here on Saturday, PYMA Zonal chairman Akram Pasha and Zonal vice chairman Adnan Zahid said that Indian government was giving various incentives and subsidies to its exporters, enabling them to dump their cotton yarn in Pakistani markets.
Akram Pasha said that import of cotton yarn from India was destroying the textile sector of the country. He said that regulatory duty of 15 percent should be imposed on import of cotton yarn from India which would not only protect the local market but also enable the exporters to earn foreign exchange.
