Punjab Excise Dept imposes 2pc fine on property tax defaulters

LAHORE: The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has started issuing notices with two percent penalty on property tax for the defaulters who failed to submit their taxes till December 31.

“Excise officials are trying hard to achieve their targets as soon as possible as department is facing revenue shortfall. New Excise secretary who took charge some days ago directed the officers to issue notices with two percent fine on default amount.”

“The notices are being issued to the defaulters with increased fine from one percent to two percent. There are 160,000 property tax defaulters in Lahore and they will have to pay 2 percent more tax on their taxes,” the new excise secretary said.
