40 American firms to visit Iran next month to explore business opportunities

TEHRAN: A delegation of 40 top Armenian companies are scheduled to visit Iran on November 9 to explore new business opportunities in the country, the Armenian Ambassador to Tehran Artashes Tumanyan stated.

Tumanyan made the statement in a meeting with Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Chairman Mohsen Jalalpour in Tehran on October 10, according to the official website of the ICCIMA.

He said these companies can cooperate with Iran in the fields of banking and finance, electronics and information technology, in addition to agriculture sector, manufacturing of machinery and making of gold ware and jewelry.

“I believe that exchange of trade delegations between the two countries will promote the bilateral cooperation”, he noted.

“Iran is of high importance for Armenian both in the political and economic aspects. We always think about having stable ties with Iran”, the Armenian ambassador stated.

He said Iran’s nuclear deal with the world’s major powers prepares the ground for the expansion of trade ties between Iran and Armenia.

Making a preferential trade agreement between Iran and Armenia is of great importance; he highlighted.

Jalalpour, for his part, stressed expansion of Iran-Armenia trade relations through removing legal barriers and also signing a preferential trade agreement between the two countries.

As there are 48 types of minerals in Armenia, Iranian companies can cooperate with Armenia in the field of mineral extraction and also providing of mining equipments, he stated.

Armenia was the 23rd biggest importer of Iranian non-oil goods in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-Septemebr 22), according to the Iran Customs Administration.

Iran exported $63.847 million of non-oil goods to Armenia and imported $5.409 million of non-oil goods from the country in the six-month period.

It is while Armenia was the 27th leading importer of Iranian non-oil goods in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, with importing $120.047 million of non-oil goods from Iran and exporting $19.37 million of non-oil goods to the country.
