KARACHI: The government has announced to reduce 5 percent sales tax on import of LNG for CNG and fertilizer sector.
According to reliable sources in the Federal Board of Revenue, the government has already issued a notification in this regard in which it is clarified that reduction in sales tax must be applied to LNG import, but no condition is applied to the CNG sector.
The notification further says that fertiliser manufacturers are bound to submit data of SNGPL gas supply and LNG import to the Inland Revenue commissioner. The notification says that Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited must supply gas to the fertiliser sector under the OGRA prices, and in this case, the fertiliser sector has to pay additional 17 percent sales tax.
