LAHORE: The city district government Friday arrested 79 shopkeepers for overcharging and also lodged 49 FIRs against violators of Price Act.
The City District Government (CDGL) teams also sent 30 persons, out of total 48 to jail for three days after summary trial on the spot. As many as 33 shopkeepers were challaned and fine was imposed worth Rs 44,000.
CDGL Special Price Control Magistrates conducted raids on 878 shops in various areas of the city and inspected price of commodities at local level. DCO Capt (R) Muhammad Usman issued directions to the Town Administrators to continue crackdown against the profiteering to provide relief to the masses.
