7kg gold smuggling scam: Customs Court to announce verdict next week

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling is likely to announce its verdict next week in a case pertaining to the smuggling of seven kilogramme gold.

The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling is hearing the case against Muhammad Rizwan as statements of witnesses will be completed this week.

Chaudhary Ameer Muhammad Khan, Special Judge of the Customs and Taxation Court, had approved the judicial remand of the accused and he is on judicial trial which is almost completed as the Customs investigation team is likely to submit an interim challan against the accused within this week.

Rizwan was on judicial remand for 14 days and before this he was in the custody of the Customs investigation team that grilled the accused to dig out more persons behind smuggling.

Rizwan has been facing charges of smuggling since the last three months and he is on judicial trial. The court has also asked the investigation team to complete the challan against the accused until next hearing.

Earlier Customs Preventive had confiscated seven kilograms of gold from Muhammad Rizwan son of Hadayatullah, who is a resident of Kot Khawaja Saeed, Lahore.
