821 FTO recommendations still await implementation

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) could not implement the recommendations of the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) as 821 of which had been lying unattended for the last many months.

According to the statistics issued by the FTO, as many as 821 FTO recommendations were pending for implementation despite the FTO’s clear directives on realizing the recommendations.

Details showed that a majority of the recommendations, made in preceding years, and had gone unnoticed by the FBR as they were not implemented even after the lapse of years.

One recommendation from 2008, 16 from 2009, 39 from 2010, 23 from 2011, 76 from 2012, 132 from 2013, 214 from 2014 and 320 from 2015 were pending for implementation.

Number of unimplemented recommendations had gone higher than any other year during 2015 with the figures 320.

FTO officials stated that plenty of re-directives of FTO for implementing the recommendations had also gone unnoticed as these were not implemented yet.
