FIA arrests 890 human traffickers from Gujranwala Division in 2014

SIALKOT: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has yet arrested as many as 590 notorious human traffickers including 19 dangerous accused named in the Red Book of the FIA during special campaign against them in year 2014 from Gujranwala Division’s all the Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din , Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts here.

FIA Deputy Director Malik Sikandar Hayyat told that the accused had extorted millions of the rupees from the innocent people by showing them the golden dreams of their lucid future in abroad, as the accused had been running several gangs directly and indirectly involved in sending the people abroad illegally. He said that as many as 136 notorious human traffickers out of 590 were convicted by local courts after trial there. He said that the FIA also busted a gang of the swindlers , who was busy in plundering money from the people in the Income Support Programme, besides, resting several others accused including bank manager  and staff involved in plundering the gold, cash and other valuables kept their in the bank’s lockers by the local account holders as well.

The FIA Deputy Director revealed that the FIA had also arrested an accused who had drawn Rs 23.7 million by fraud from the bank account of a Canadian woman. The FIA also recovered the said amount from the accused. The FIA also recovered Rs 70 million from the influential accused found guilty in electricity and gas pilferage, in this regard.
