FBR sets Rs 1.16b recovery target for RTO Gujranwala

SIALKOT: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has fixed official tax recovery target of Rs 1.16 billion for Regional Tax Office (RTO) Gujranwala for the month of March 2015 and RTO Gujranwala has formed as many as 12 special recovery teams with special recovery tasks with a sole aim to achieve the recovery target.

According to the senior FBR officials, special recovery target of Rs 649 million has been given under the Income Tax, Rs 510 million as Sales Tax and Rs 0.5 million as Federal Excise Duty (FED) to be collected from the tax payers including GEPCO, City District Government, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Gujranwala,  Highway Department, tiles manufacturing factories , beverage companies  and all the Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs) in Gujranwala region, all the six Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts during the running month.

Senior RTO officials revealed that the RTO Gujranwala has yet collected taxes to the tune of Rs 7.93 billion during a period starting from July 1st, 2014 to February 28th, 2015, including the collection of Rs 4.5 billion as Income Tax and Rs 3.42 billion as Sales Tax.

FBR had also given a recovery target of Rs 5.28 billion to RTO Gujranwala Region for the six months period (from July 1st, 2014 to December 31st, 2014) and RTO Gujranwala had recovered Rs 5.59 billion against the fixed official recovery target of Rs 5.28 billion, which was Rs 308 more than the fixed official recovery target, in this regard.
