Appraisement-West PRV Cell recovers Rs 7.995 million in March

KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Appraisement-West Post Release Verification (PRV) Cell has collected Rs 7.955 million during March-2015 by detecting 43 cases of mis-declaration and mis-using of SROs.

According to details, the PRV Cell recovered Rs 64,604 from M/s Ateeq Auto Traders on import of OS mixture; Rs 67,772 from M/s Ansari Traders on import of fresh coconuts; Rs 54,1547 from M/s Barret Hodgson Pakistan on import of pharmaceutical raw material.

The PRV Cell with the teamwork has successfully recovered Rs 149162 from M/s Premier Formica Industries on import of Phenol; Rs 59665 from M/s Anjum Corporation on import of low density polyethylene; recovered an amount of Rs101770 from M/s Asif Textile Trading on import of low density polyethylene; Rs 631929 from M/s Expletus Enterprises on import of Phenol; Rs 40145 from M/s Diamond Paints Industries on import of Phenol; Rs 40145 from M/s Khawaja Brothers on import of Polypropylene Injections and also recovered Rs183586 from M/s Saifee Trading on import of PVC Stabilizer.

The PRV Cell has recovered Rs 485757 from M/s ZAFA Pharma on import of LDPE Medical Grade; Rs 201533 from M/s Faiz Chemicals on import of Ethylene Glycol; Rs 486430 from M/s Sial Enterprises on import of Copper Tube; Rs 23027 from M/s Mediate Pharma on import of Propylene Glycol; recovered an amount of Rs 59665 from M/s Anjum Corporation on import of Low Density polyethylene; Rs 209254 from M/s Master Wool Spinners on import of Low Density polyethylene.

The PRV Cell has also recovered an amount of Rs 176327 from M/s Ruby Enterprises on import of Low Density polyethylene; recovered Rs 473593 from M/s Sayyed Writing Instrument on import of Self Adhesive Tape; Rs153270 from M/s Fahad Impex on import of Self Adhesive Tape and recovered Rs 59605 from M/s H S Enterprises on import of Self Adhesive Tape.

The PRV Cell recovered an amount of Rs 1596677 from M/s Rafiq Agrico on import of Self Adhesive Tape; Rs788580 from M/s S R Enterprises on import of Menthol Crystal; Rs 175327 from M/s Perfect International on import of Isobutanal; recovered Rs 68254 from M/s Hamayun Chemical on import of Isobutanal; Rs 437145 from M/s Nakemel Enterprises on import of soap; Rs340260 from M/s The Searle Company Limited on import of glycerin; Rs 156637 from M/s Royal Packages on import of PMC and recovered an amount of Rs70305 from M/s Kassim Textile Limited on import of yarn.

It is pertinent to mention here that the PRV Cell has recovered nominal amount in the last six months, as it recovered around Rs 15million to 20 million in the past.

Sources were of the view that the strict scrutiny of the past clearance data compel the importers to remain in the parameters of law.

However; some other sources were of the view that the unnecessary assessments forced the importers to switch or shift their clearance procedures to other Collectorates i.e. MCC-Appraisement (East) and MCC-Port Muhammad Bin Qasim.
