Multan Customs, Intelligence destroy contraband items worth Rs 22m

MULTAN: The Model of Collectorate Customs Multan and Customs Intelligence has jointly destroyed the contraband items of worth 22 million, including drugs, chemicals, cell phones and other items at the Multan Dry Port in the superb occasion.

The Customs authorities of MCC Multan and Customs Intelligence and Investigation Range Office organised the event for the contraband smuggled items at the Multan Dry Port Sher Shah Multan.

Collector Customs Dr. Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich has initiated the destruction of contraband and smuggled items at the ground of the Multan Dry Port along with Additional Director Customs Nisar , Additional Collector Ghulam Mustafa, Deputy Collector Muteen Alam and Deputy Collector Dr. Muhammad Ali Malik .

Almost 20 million of destroyed items were seized by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range office in the various anti-smuggling operations at the different locations of its jurisdiction. The destroyed items were in huge quantity and they were captured at the different operations from locations and the contraband items were also from various origins of the world. The destroyed items arrived at the Multan Dry Port was loaded on the two trucks for destruction.

The items destroyed by anti-smuggling Organization Multan includes Cordless phones of various brands seized by the AFU , 1600 cell phones of various brands seized by AFU at the Multan International Airport and  smuggled Wireless telephone sets of different brands . All the destroyed items were adjudicated from the Customs Adjudication and their destruction was pending from last few years.

Cell Phones were destroyed due to the blockage of their IMEI from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority otherwise the cell phones can be presented in the auction.

The destruction of smuggled items included 40 cartons of Pan Parag Gutka of indian orgin, 47500 pouches of Pan Parag gutka, White tablet of Aluminum Phosphate of 10 cartons, 90,000 pouches of Zafrani Gutka  (polyethene bags).

The smuggled tin of Tang refreshment powder juices of the 13 cartons was also destructed due to the expiry of the juices. There were 111600 sexual tablets of Viagra formed with the ingredients of Sildenafil Citrate were also destroyed on that occasion.

Super Wega Drug Tablets in the quantity of 21000 and 1420 bottles of spray used in the delay during intercourse were also destroyed during the event organized by the customs authorities at the Multan Dry Port.

The items destroyed at the destruction event held at the Multan Dry Port  includes the Chewing Tobacco (Zafrani Pati of Indian Origin) in 90 cartons, Black tea 120 cartons ,cigarettes brands of 50 cartons .

Collector Dr. Sarfraz Ahmad told Customs today that these smuggled items were destroyed due to the reason that their consumption for the human health was harmful and most of the smuggled items were destroyed due to their over expiry .He inscribed on the query that these items were held in our warehouses from very long times and after the approval of Federal Board of Revenue these items were destroyed.

Additional Collector Customs Multan Ghulam Mustafa expressed that  destruction of these smuggled items were done to avoid human being from their injurious affects as these destructed goods consumption was not fit for the human being.

Additional Collector Customs Intelligence and Investigation Nisar Ahmad said that these destroyed items includes the smuggled items of Afghan Transit Trade items and these contraband items were smuggled from India  and covered under Afghan Transit Trade to avoid customs teams . But his staff has captured and seized the Zafarani Gutka, Pan Parag,chewing tobacco, sildenafil citrate drugs used in intercourse about six months ago under strict monitoring and effective crackdown against these smuggled goods.Mr. Nisar told that these items were occupied huge space in the Customs Intelligence Range office Multan and it was tough to keep them in the storeroom so after its destruction the space will be available to store the other smuggled goods in the warehouse.

Deputy Collector Headquarter MCC Multan Muteen Alam has checked and verified the list of destroyed items by ensuring items presence in the entire destruction of harmful items to secure human being from before their destruction. He told Customs today that the destruction of these items is a special event for the department to ensure the health and safe people from the consumption of harmful elements.

Deputy Collector Dry Port Multan Dr. Muhammad Ali Malik told Customs today that this destruction of goods shown commitment of department against smuggling and its good gesture to prevent the region from the smuggling and it will protect the lives of masses from these harmful contraband elements.
