Peshawar anti-smuggling cell seizes non-customs paid items worth Rs 199.67m in April

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has witnessed a sharp increase in confiscation of non-customs paid items during April 2015 as compared to the corresponding period of April 2014.

The current seized non-customs paid items are the highest in the last four years period, an official of the Customs House Peshawar said.

During April 2015, Customs House Peshawar had seized worth of Rs199,678,687 smuggled goods as compared to Rs87,734,325 goods were seized in April 2014.

An official of Anti-Smuggling Cell Peshawar said that during April 2015, Customs Police Nowshehra seized worth of Rs757,125 fabrics, worth of Rs621,450 black tea, worth of Rs75,000 tyres, worth of Rs7,005,075 Misc items worth of Rs8,100,000 non customs paid vehicles. He revealed that total Rs16, 558,650 non duty paid goods were seized in Nowshehra during said month.

Official statistics disclosed that worth of Rs8, 784,125 smuggled goods were seized from Mardan.

“Total worth of Rs199,678,687 goods, including auto-parts, tyres, fabrics, black tea and non customs paid vehicles were seized during one month with efforts of Anti Smuggling Cell Peshawar” the official said.

He added that last year in the same month officials of Customs Peshawar had seized worth of Rs87, 734,325 smuggled goods.

Deputy Collector Ubaid Ullah said that they will continue their efforts, in order to stopped smuggling in Peshawar.
