Iranian diesel/petrol smuggling: Hyderabad customs registers FIRs against oil marketing companies

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Hyderabad has registered several FIRs against certain oil marketing companies on their alleged involvement in smuggling of Iranian diesel and petrol.

Sources said that the invoices of that certain oil marketing companies are being used in transporting the smuggled Iranian diesel/petrol into the country.

“The authorities concerned of MCC Hyderabad kept strong vigilance over the involvement of certain oil marketing companies in smuggling of diesel/petrol and reached the point that the oil marketing companies are involved in patronizing the smugglers of Iranian diesel and petrol”, sources added.

“Collecting enough evidences, the authorities concerned of MCC Hyderabad have decided to take legal action against the oil marketing companies which are involved in smuggling of Iranian diesel and petrol”, sources asserted.

Replying to a query, sources refused to disclose the names of the oil marketing companies which are involved in smuggling of diesel/petrol, but stated that well-known and renowned companies were involved in such crimes.

Responding to another query, the sources revealed that the authorities concerned of MCC Hyderabad have registered FIRs against the certain oil marketing companies and the process would continue in upcoming days through which the customs authorities would take legal action against prominent oil marketing companies regardless of their reputable names.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Collector MCC Preventive, Syed Muhammad Tariq Huda has already disclosed that the oil marketing companies were involved in smuggling of diesel/petrol and cohesive evidences of their involvement are with customs authorities.
