Lahore: Anti-Corruption Establishment arrests govt servants, others in 90 kanal land scam

LAHORE: The Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has arrested Assistant Director Land Record, Waqas Maalik Wattoo, In-Charge District Revenue Record Room, Rana Shahbaz and other on allegedly transferring 90 kanals government land worth billions of rupees adjacent to Bahria Town on fake registration.

ACE has arrested officials of service centre Mansoor, Ehsanul Haq and alleged members of land mafia Arshad Ahmed, Shabir Toor, Bashir Ahmed and Property Dealer Barkat on transferring the land illegally. Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Lahore dismissed pre-arrest bail of Assistant Director Land Record Waqas Maalik Wattoo.

According to the details, DCO Lahore Capt (r) Muhammad Usman as ex-officio deputy director anti-corruption, conducted an inquiry into the matter and sent it to the Director General Anti-Corruption Punjab. On the order of DG Anti-Corruption, Lahore region, a case No  64/2015 was registered under sections 104, 471, 468, 420 and 5(2)47PCA of the PPC and constituted a special team headed by Deputy Director Lahore for investigating the case.

Members of land mafia Arshad, a resident of Pattoki, Shabir Toor Warraich, a resident of Lahore, Mansoor Iqbal, a resident of Mustafabad, property dealer Barkat, a resident of Chungi Amar Sadhu and property dealer Ramzan, in connivance with the Assistant Director Land Record Tehsil Raiwind Lahore, Waqas Maalik Wattoo and Head Clerk, In-Charge District Record Room Rana Shahbaz, committed fraud in 90 kanal government land worth billions of rupees by transferring it through a fake registration.

Whereas in 1990, Hafeez Ahmed got approved registration document No 3293 dated 08-05-1990 of two and a half marla house. Rana Shahbaz prepared a bogus registration deed of the government land and pasted it on the genuine registration deed of Hafeez Ahmed.

Later, on the basis of this bogus registration deed, Assistant Director Land Record Waqas Maalik Wattoo, Ehsanul Haq, service centre officials in connivance of the accused got approved 90 kanal land vide transfer No. 141 in favour of Arshad, Bashir and Mansoor Iqbal, whereas Additional District Collector General had already ordered to seal the bogus registration before transferring of land. Rana Shahbaz prepared bogus registration deed by getting Rs 700,000 from Arshad, Shabir Toor and Mansoor Iqbal and pasted it in the record.
