KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue FBR is introducing a new law in upcoming budget according to which passports and CNICs of tax defaulters will be blocked.
A regional tax commissioner said that they are considering different measures, which will be finalised in the near future . Sources told this scribe that the Directorate General Broadening of Tax Base has already written a letter to the Federal Board of Revenue in this regard, in which they suggested that passports and CNICs of tax defaulters must be seized.
Sources of the RTO are confident that after passage of this law, tax defaulters will have no other option except to pay tax and this action will put a positive impact on the department’s performance.
