Customs to issue show-cause notices to fabric importers

KARACHI: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I and II has been going to issue show-cause notices (SCNs) from the next week to the importers of textile fabric, involved in mis-declaration and tax evasion.
The FBR sources informed Customs Today that the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication has prepared show-cause notices which will probably being issued to the parties from Tuesday.
It further told this scribe that around 8 to 10 show-cause notices would be issued by the Office of the Collector of Customs Adjudication in first phase and later the offices of Additional Collector, Deputy Collector and Assistant Collector will issue show-cause notices.
Moreover, the MCC Appraisement-West has prepared 50 contravention reports against the different importers of fabric textile, who attempted to import viscose blended in the garb of cotton.
However, Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Karachi has registered FIRs against the importers who involved in mis-declaration and tax evasion and the matter was still in court.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Sindh High Court (SHC) has already in its verdict allowed the importers to clear their consignments at US$4.50 per Kg.
