ISLAMABAD: The Federal Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs Ishaq Dar has rejected the white paper issued by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on budget 2014-15 and declared it pack of lies.
While addressing a news conference along with Privatization Commission Chairman Muhammad Zubair, he said the economy has been performing well and international institutions have also admired the economic policies of Pakistan. He also criticized IMF pressure and said that if we act upon on all instructions of IMF inflation rate in country will raise manifold.
“Imran has missed to mention those areas and institutions in his white paper where government has made progress” he added. He has rejected the impression that the budget was pro-elite and said that it is pro-people and specially envisages youth oriented programs which will help generate employment opportunities
He said that this year budget carries not only measures for improvement of industrial and business sectors but also agriculture sector.
He admitted that circular debt has surged to Rs 300 billion which will be paid after receiving liabilities from power sector. He said that Rs 500 billion has been allocated in the budget for disbursement of loans among the farmers and subsidy has also given to them on other agriculture inputs. Livestock and crop insurance schemes were major initiatives for the growth of agriculture sector.
He claimed that government has collected 16.44 per cent more revenue than previous years, remittance increased by 13.7 %, foreign investment raised to $ 4.4 billion and budget deficit lowered 2.5 per cent this year.
