LAHORE: The PIAF-Founders Alliance has expressed its optimism about a peaceful resolution to the prevailing political deadlock which has virtually brought economic activities to a halt.
In a joint statement, PIAF Chairman Malik Tahir Javed and other leaders, including Mian Anjum Nisar, Mian Muhammad Ashraf, Lahore Township Industries Association Chairman Chaudhry Zaheer Bhutta, leader of Kattar Band Road Industrial area Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi, President Anjuman-e-Tajran Khalid Pervez, leader of Paper Market Khamis Saeed Butt, Mubasher Sheikh of Circular Road Plastic Market, Talha Tayyab Butt and Muhammad Haroon of Shahalam Market, President Ferozepur Road Marble Market Chaudhry Mahboob Ali Sirki and Nasir Saeed of Chamberlain Road said that the politics of sit-ins was not only tarnishing the image of the country at the international level but also hindering economic progress.
They said long marches and sit-ins had caused colossal losses to the national economy, adding that international as well as domestic investors were reluctant to put their money in new ventures.
They demanded politicians end their sit-ins and focus on early rehabilitation of IDPs who were facing various difficulties.
