Khurram welcomes Saudi, Korean steel investors

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Commerce Engr. Khurram Dastgir Khan has said that the Saudi and Korean investors are investing millions of dollars in mining of iron ore in Balochistan and in unfinished steel products of Pakistan.

He said this while presiding over a meeting to welcome the investors in Pakistan and ensure complete support of the Ministry of Commerce.

The minister said that initially the investors were investing $890 million in the steel sector. He said that acting on the directions of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the economic ministries were working in close coordination to increase investment and boost trade in the country.

“The government is introducing reforms to bring standardisation and value addition in the products,” Khurram said, adding that the investment in steel sector would prove to be a catalyst for industrialisation in the country.
