KARACHI: Customs Collectorate Appraisement East, in a major breakthrough, has recovered another 17.5 metric tons of Acetic Anhydride from a warehouse in the SITE area.
Talking to Customs Today, Collector Appraisement East Majid Yousfani said that the officials of Research and Development recovered 17.5 metric tons of Acetic Anhydride from a warehouse. The Acetic Anhydride was earlier cleared from the port through mis-declaration.
According to Collector, the consignment was dispatched from Jabel Ali Free Zone to consignee M/s Al-Abdaal Traders and consignor has been identified as M/s Salwa Star General Trading LLC. M/s JB Jamali Brothers International is the IGM importer, he added.
Collector Majid Yousafani added that the GD was filed on December 31, 2015 and goods were declared as windshield washing fluid. And, a team comprising Deputy Collector Zaheer Abbas, Principal Appraiser Ibrahim Khan, Appraising Officers Noor Ilahi, Ashfaq Ahmed, Preventive Officer Malak Hashim, Adil Rasheed was constituted to act upon the information. The team conducted several raids and recovered 17.5 metric tons of Acetic Anhydride from a warehouse in SITE area.
It is recalled here that Customs Preventive a couple of days earlier seized 22 tons of this prohibited chemical from a container at NLC terminal.
