LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has extended judicial remand of a suspect who was arrested by Customs intelligence authorities in a case of cloth smuggling.
Earlier, the Customs Intelligence and Investigation team produced suspect Muhammad Iqbal before the court where the Customs Court accepted his judicial remand for 14 days. Now the customs court has extended his judicial remand for 14 days and sent him to jail.
The accused was booked during a raid at a warehouse following the recovery of huge quantity of smuggled cloth worth Rs 8.5 million by Customs Intelligence. The cloth was smuggled from Afghanistan and was being sent to local markets of Lahore, Gujranwala and Faisalabad.
