KARACHI: The cold war among different departments of the Pakistan Customs is continued, as the Customs Collectorates have restricted the PRAL that Customs database department not to provide any kind of clearance data to other departments of the Pakistan Customs.
Sources informed Customs Today that the field formations have issued strict directives to PRAL that details of clearance data from all three field formation Collectorates, including Customs Appraisement (East), Customs Appraisement (West) and Customs Port Muhammad Bin Qasim should not to be shared with any other departments i.e. Input Output Co-efficient Organization (IOCO), Internal Audit, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and others.
The sources further told Customs Today that the field formation Collectorates have nominated a focal person i.e. Assistant Collector Mehwish in connection with provision of any kind of clearance data.
“The all above aforementioned departments should seek permission of the focal person in case of providing clearance data”, sources added.
Responding to a query, the sources said that the scrutinizing process regarding the post clearance import and export data is being badly hampered due to the non-cooperation of field formation Collectorates.
“The process of internal audit of the Collectorates on clearance of the consignments and examination of Duty Taxes Remission on Exports (DTRE) working is being stopped for last three months due to non-provision of clearance data by PRAL”, sources disclosed.
The sources further said that the authorities concerned of those departments have already written to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in order to allow access to the post clearance data of import and export.
