Customs Court accepts bail of alleged vehicle smuggler

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has accepted the post-arrest bail plea of a suspect allegedly involved in vehicle smuggling case.

Special Judge Chaudhary Ameer Muhammad Khan granted the bail against surety bonds of Rs 200,000 and personal guarantee.

As per details, the Customs Intelligence seized a non-customs paid Toyota Corolla car worth Rs 1 million and arrested Muhammad Sadiq, who was driving the car.

The customs team presented the suspect before the Customs Court and asked for remand of the accused and the court accepted his physical remand of three days and later he was sent to jail on judicial remand.

While granting the bail, the court has ordered the accused to make sure his presence in the court on every hearing until announcement of the court verdict.

It is learnt here that a number of people are running a network in Lahore who are involved in supplying non-customs paid smuggled vehicles from Northern Areas to Punjab.
