Hyderabad Customs Intelligence seizes cloth worth Rs 11m

HYDERABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated Malaysian origin cloth and a truck worth Rs 11.2 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 4.1 million.

Following the instructions of Customs Intelligence Director Asif Marghoob Siddiqui, the field investigation unit Hyderabad intercepted a truck bearing Registration No. C-2799 coming from Quetta to Karachi and recovered cloth.

The FIU team, comprising Deputy Director Muhammad Tayyab, Deputy Superintendent Sikander Hayat Khanzada, Inspector Irfan Ghani, Ahmed Jonejo and Sepoys Imran and Aleemuddin, asked the driver to produce the documents regarding the legal import of the cloth.

But the driver failed to produce any such documents on which the customs officials impounded the truck and cloth under the prevailing customs laws.
