Customs recovers alcohol from passenger at Faisalabad airport

FAISALABAD: The Pakistan Customs staff has recovered three bottles of alcohol worth Rs 42,336 from a passenger who reached Faisalabad from Dubai.

Superintendent Zahid Raza Bukhari received information regarding the smuggling attempt through a flight No. 323 on which he formed a team comprising Inspector Bashir Hussain, Inspector Shahid Iqbal, Sepoy Ghulam Ghous and Abdul Sattar to arrest the accused passenger.

The officials intercepted a passenger namely Irfan Ijaz and searched his luggage leading to the recovery of three bottles of liquor. The officials seized the bottles under Section 15 and 16 of the Customs Act, 1969 punishable under clauses 8, 9 and 70 of the Section 156 of the Customs Act.

It is clear under customs law that the liquor is prohibited and restricted to be brought into country. A seizure report has been submitted for the adjudication.
