Punjab Revenue Authority submits 25,000 invoices for RIMS draw

LAHORE: Almost 25,000 citizens submitted invoices of restaurants to the Punjab Revenue Authority’s (PRA) newly launched ‘Restaurant Invoice Monitoring System’ (RIMS) while the first draw would be held on Sunday.

Additional Commissioner (enforcement) Shahzad Mahmood Gondal (also incharge of the RIMS project) while talking to the media persons said that the Punjab Revenue Authority recently started a campaign, offering grand gifts to restaurant customers through its Restaurant Invoice Monitoring System kiosks, installed at a number of restaurants and hotels in the city.

The campaign aims to encourage customers to get sales tax invoice, they showed their keen interest to put the restaurants in tax system by sending thousands of invoices. Shahzad Mahmood Gondal said that a comprehensive campaign ran through newspapers advertisement while pamphlets were also distributed among customers in hotels.

He said that about 9,000 invoices would get space in draw box as most of the receipts did not fulfill the requirements of the department. He said that people should read the list of the restaurants given in the website of the PRA and submit the invoices after payment of more than Rs 1,000.

Gondal said that the Punjab government had already allocated Rs 25 million for the gift scheme under which three cars, tickets of Umrah, mobile phone sets, tablets, LCDs and other items would be given to customers through a lucky draw.
