MULTAN: Customs Intelligence and Investigation range office has seized a huge quantity of smuggled goods and vehicles worth Rs 49.070 million during March.
Sources informed Customs Today that the anti-smuggling squads of Customs intelligence conducted various raids in different parts of Multan during March. The Customs Intelligence has initiated extensive anti-smuggling campaign in the area on the directions of Director Saud Imran.
The Customs Intelligence seized 18 non-customs paid vehicles of various models and also seized miscellaneous goods. The Customs has made 20 seizures in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sadiqabad region.
As many as 18 vehicles of various models and designs of Rs 27.2 million were seized in actions of Customs Intelligence during March. The seized vehicles includes Toyota Hiace wagon, Toyota Vitz ,Toyota Corolla, Land Cruiser, BMW, Toyota Hilux Surf, Toyota Crown, Toyota Picasso etc. in March in various anti-smuggling activities in the region. These seized vehicles includes expansive vehicle of BMW worth Rs 6 million.
Customs have seized ten vehicles from Dera Ghazi Khan Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) due to strong enforcement and tactical deployment of staff which results into large number of vehicles seized against smuggled vehicles. Customs Intelligence and Investigation deputy director Naveedur Rehman Bughvi supervised all anti-smuggling activities of the region by carrying out timely anti-smuggling activities and foiled the attempts of smuggling. Customs have also seized welding electrodes, engines, auto parts worth millions in the month of March.
Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation is also coordinating with motorway police authorities and other law enforcement agencies as to eliminate menace of smuggling from jurisdiction.
