Panama Papers: Dar directs FBR, SBP, SECP to investigate the accused

ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has directed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) to probe the Panama Leaks under their jurisdictions and complete this exercise on a priority basis.

According to the official letters written by the Finance and Revenue Division to the FBR, SBP and SECP, the finance minister directed the FBR chairman to probe the people, whose names were revealed in Panama Leaks, had declared their full assets in their annual tax returns. The finance minister directed the FBR to provide its full support and cooperation to the inquiry commission.

Ishaq Dar also directed the SBP to verify details of remittances sent abroad from the country by the Pakistanis whose name were made public by the Panama Leaks.

According to the letter written to the SECP, the finance minister directed the Security Commission to determine in respect of all those companies registered with the SECP and their directors who were alleged by the Panama Papers.
