MULTAN: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation team detained a Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) bowser from Khanewal.
According to details, the Customs Intelligence detained the filled bowser of Liquefied Petroleum Gas boozer on the suspicion of smuggling .The LPG tanker was coming from Taftan border of Iran and the Customs received information that the smuggled container might pass through Multan for its delivery.
Sources said that Deputy Director Naveed ur Rehman Bughvi deployed Customs field staff to intercept the LPG tanker in the way. Customs have already increased the surveillance of the jurisdiction to curb smuggling of the LPG in the country through Mand and Taftan borders of the Iran.
Customs teams have started investigations about the detained LPG tanker for the verification of its GDs and importer have been given time to provide further supporting documents of the imported LPG in the interrogation .
The smuggling of LPG from border and its transportation was decreased due to drop in the oil prices of petroleum products but still huge numbers of industries are running their manufacturing units on the LPG due to cost efficient. But customs is taking stern action against the smuggling of the LPG to root out smuggling from the region which will put positive impact on the economy of the country.
The total worth of the detained LPG browser along with vehicle was almost Rs 3.5 million.
