ISLAMABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has confiscated Indian cumin seeds (zeera) worth Rs 2.1 million, besides impounding the vehicle worth Rs 500,000, which was being used for the transportation of the smuggled item.
On information, the anti-smuggling squad led by Inspector Rana Shakeel intercepted a Bedford truck coming from Peshawar near Dina on GT Road and recovered cumin seeds.
The staff asked the driver to give any valid document regarding the customs clearance of the loaded items but the driver remained failed to provide the same. Therefore, the officials impounded the truck loaded with a huge quantity of zeera
FIR has been lodged against the accused person, besides sending him behind the bars for further interrogation.
