2nd heist in 2 days: Bandits loot Rs6m from another bank

KARACHI: Five armed robbers took away Rs6 million a branch of Soneri Bank situated near the Inquiry Office in Nazimabad No-2. It was the second robbery in two days as robbers robbed Rs1 million from the branch of a bank in North Nazimabad.

According to police, five to six men arrived on motorcycles at the Soneri Bank branch. The robbers overpowered the security guard, snatched his shotgun and stormed the strongroom, from where they stole Rs6 million.

The robbers locked the guards and other staff members in a room and carried out the robbery in 15 minutes.

The police said that CCTV footage from cameras installed at the bank had been obtained and efforts were underway to identify the culprits.

It is to be noted that armed had robbed the Allied Bank Ltd branch a day.

On November 26, five men had robbed a bank in North Nazimabad and made off with Rs1 million and the security guards’ weapons.
