KARACHI: The Directorate of Post Clearance Audit (PCA) has sent a contravention report to adjudication against Naseer Auto Parts and Export on evading Rs 11.2 million by misusing SRO 567.

Sources said that Naseer Auto Parts cleared as many as 21 consignments through the Model Customs Collectorate Port Qasim and Preventive during May 2015 to January 2016 and evaded millions of rupees in the wake of duty/taxes by taking undue benefits of the said SRO.

The sources added that the company imported parts of gas stoves, ovens and other items during the said time period and pay five percent less duty/taxes, while the importers manufactured the items locally that are included in Customs General Items No 11/2007. Therefore, the importer could not be given any exemption under the said SRO.

Later, the PCA officials scrutinised all clearance data of the company and found tax evasion to the tune of Rs 11.2 million on the import of 21 consignments during nine months. The case has been sent to the Customs Adjudication for further legal proceedings.
