SIALKOT: The Collector Customs Sialkot Ahmed Raza Khan has directed deputy collectors and assistant collectors to personally pursue cases at different forums so that stuck up revenue could be recovered.

The Collector noted that there are subjudice cases at different legal forums where substantial amount of revenue is involved. Forums like tribunals are quite important while cases of alleged maladministration are adjudged by different offices of the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO).

Therefore, assistant collectors and deputy collectors of the concerned departments are advised to invariably attend the hearings in person at both the forums, namely tribunals and FTO offices.

These officers are also advised to prepare fully with all related facts, figures, evidences etc for proper pleading before these forums. Moreover, outcome of the above mentioned efforts should be reflected in monthly performance review. It will regularly be evaluated as to how much stuck up revenue has been recovered with effective follow up by the officers at these forums.

It is learnt that Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed all collectors in the country that they should bound all concerned assistant collectors and deputy collectors that they should personally pursue all cases in tribunal and FTO because the presence of assistant collectors and deputy collectors are very appropriate in tribunal and FTO while they must fully prepare for arguments during hearing according to the case facts while they should study relevant laws of customs before their appearance in the tribunal and FTO.
