SIALKOT: On the orders of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Sialkot Model Customs Collectorate and the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Gujranwala are starting a joint campaign against sellers of smuggled Iranian diesel and petrol.
Sources told Customs Today that the FBR received information that selling of Iranian smuggled diesel and petrol is on peak in the Gujranwala Division. The FBR instructed the Customs Intelligence and Investigation to take stern action against sellers who were involved in selling of smuggled Iranian oil.
Sources said that the both departments will arrange meetings to discuss ways and means to eradicate the selling of illegal Iranian fuel. Sources said that it will be decided in the meeting whether to take help from the local police and other agencies or not. Sources said that Deputy Collector of Model Customs Collectorate Sialkot will head the teams and Deputy Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation will keep track of the operation.
The team heads will must file daily report to Collector Customs and Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation of Punjab. Sources told Collector and Director General will also intimate to concerned authorities of FBR about operation. The customs team will not spare any seller who will involve in selling of said diesel and petrol whereas team will not accept and political or other pressure to release sellers rather team will take action as per law and register case against guilty persons as well as arrest them. The customs officials will confiscate all diesel and petrol and earning amount at the spot. The operation will start before August 10, 2016 after meeting of both departments.
