PRA seals renowned restaurant for sales tax evasion

LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has sealed a renowned restaurant located at MM Alam Road Gulberg on the charges of sales tax evasion.

According to the sources, the PRA has sealed “Chai Coffee aur Syasat” restaurant, as it was a defaulter of Rs 4.4 million since 2014. The restaurant has been receiving the tax from customers but did not submit to the national kitty.

Special teams of PRA have started crackdown against luxury restaurants, which are involved in sales tax evasion. During this campaign, the PRA has sealed famous restaurant on charge of sales tax evasion. Top officials of the PRA said that restaurants were earning huge profits but was avoiding pay duties and taxes.

Earlier, on special directions of PRA Commissioner Javed Ahmad, the teams took action against a restaurant in Faisal Town and Johar Town. The PRA has also confiscated the sales record of the restaurants.
