IHC dispose of two tax matters during first week of August

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has disposed of a couple of cases involving huge tax amount of Rs 7,995,671 during first week of August.

Justice Aamer Farooq of IHC heard both the cases and disposed them of with directions to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to decide the appellants’ departmental applications within 30 days.

These cases were filed by M/s MOL Pakistan Oil and Gas Company and M/s Muhammadi Gas Company (Private) Limited.

M/s MOL Pakistan Oil and Gas Company had filed the case against Federal Board of Revenue seeking restrictions for it from recovering claimed outstanding tax amount of Rs 6,420,171. The court restricted the board as per submission with directions to submit compliance report immediately after expiration of deadline. Petition was filed through company’s representative Zost Imre.

A similar order was announced in a case filed by M/s Muhammadi Gas Company Private Limited. Justice Aamer Farooq heard the case and issued directives to the Regional Tax Office, Islamabad to abstain from recovering outstanding tax amount of Rs 1,575,500 till decision on appellant’s appeal pending before the department. The bench also directed the respondent to decide departmental application within 30 days.
