Customs Appellate Tribunal adjourns hearing of seven cases

ISLAMABAD: Customs Appellate Tribunal on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of seven customs references until the third week of September.

A single bench of the tribunal comprising its chairman Justice (r) Manzoor Hussain Malik heard the cases and adjourned for September after hearing initial arguments on the cases.

The cases heard included petitions challenging decisions of Customs Collectorate of Peshawar and Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigations, Islamabad. Only on case was filed by Model Customs Collectorate, Peshawar out of seven.

M/s Wahid Hamid, M/s Premier Formica Industries, M/s Ghani Glass Limited M Ishaq, M/s Fazal Razaq and M/s Fazal ur Rehmand had filed cases against MCC and Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigations, Islamabad. MCC, Peshawar had filed the case against M/s Asian Foods Industries.

All of the stated cases were filed in 2015 which were set for hearing following directives issued by the newly appointed chairman of the tribunal.

The bench adjourned hearing and would resume after Eid ul Azha. The bench also asked the counsels to submit supporting as cases’ decisions would be given at the earliest after next hearing.
