KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Gwadar has recovered a huge quantity of foreign origin liquor during a operation while in another crackdown seized narcotics.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Gwadar Saeed Akram received information that a huge quantity of foreign origin liquor is being smuggled outside Gwadar city. He immediately formed a team consisting of Inspector Sarfraz Junejo, Inspector Shah Khan, Inspector Safdar Ali and other. The customs team established various check posts at main entry and exit points of Gwadar and started checking of vehicles.
The customs team intercepted a truck and recovered 200 bottles of foreign origin liquor. The customs team also arrested all the three persons who were transporting the liquor bottles. The market value of the seized liquor is Rs 7 million.
During another action customs authorities seized narcotics. Sources said that ASO team during checking of vehicles recovered 25 kilograms of hashish from a truck. This hashish was tactfully hidden in the secret parts of the truck. During initial investigations the arrested persons told the customs authorities that they were going to deliver this hashish to some other persons outside Gwadar city.
Customs team seized all the contraband and after registering a case of smuggling against accused persons started investigations.
