ASO seizes contraband items worth Rs 31.3m in August

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) showed outstanding performance, as it collected revenue of Rs 31.3 million during  August.

Collector Dr Arslan told Customs Today that the performance of ASO was very efficient during last month, the ASO impounded 11 offending vehicles wort Rs 8.9 million.

He said that the ASO is working under special instructions of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) against the non-duty paid vehicles; the ASO impounded 4 non-duty paid vehicles during said period under value of Rs 1.79 million.

He said that ASO seized foreign origin fabric under quantity of 5612Kg in worth of Rs 2.999 million and also seized food grains in quantity of 18400 kg under value of Rs 2.8 million.

Collector said that black tea is famous item for smugglers ASO seized 38 kg of black tea under value of Rs 114450 and also seized auto spare parts in quantity of 1341kg under value of Rs 361236.

Collector said that ASO seized electronic goods in quantity of 783 Kg under value of Rs 147210, ASO also seized Blankets 287 Kg under value of Rs 234213 and seized miscellaneous items were under value of Rs 4.963 million.  Collector said that the goods seized under value of Rs 22.4 million in month of August.
