Customs Intelligence impounds Toyota Coaster worth Rs 4.5m

ISLAMABAD: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Coaster worth Rs 4.547 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 2.47 million during an action near Peer Wadhai, Rawalpindi.

As per details, the Customs Intelligence received information that a coaster vehicle has been brought into Pakistan through Afghanistan without payment of duty/taxes and this vehicle will be used as passenger bus from Rawalpindi to northern areas.

Following the information, Customs Intelligence-car cell Superintendent Javed Jehangiri, Inspector Gul Nawaz and others conducted a raid near Peer Wadhai where the official intercepted the said vehicle. The officials asked driver to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle, but he fled from the scene.

The officials impounded the vehicle and sent it to laboratory for forensic test where its chassis was not found cut or welded.

Later, the Customs Intelligence registered a FIR No 42/2016 against unknown accused. Director General Imtaiz Ahmad Khan appreciated the performance of te intelligence teams.
