KARACHI: The Customs Collectorate Appraisement West has asked the Directorate of Reforms and Automation to thoroughly check the credentials of importers and clearing agents applying for renewal of their business licenses, it is learnt.

Official sources told Customs Today that the Collectorate has clearly warned the importers and clearing agents that their licenses would not be renewed if they are found involved in any kind of tax evasion, tax fraud or convicted in criminal cases.

The importers and clearing agents asked to attach documents that include an affidavit that no case of tax fraud and criminal case is finalized against him, total number of declarations filed showing declaration of imports and exports separately and detail of cases made out against him, in case of non-participation in necessary training, an undertaking to furnish the certificate of participation (for each year) in mandatory course from directorate-general of training and research (customs, sales tax and federal excise), within three months or as and when the course is conducted by the directorate.
